Flag Day Collections

On this day citizens and volunteer organizations collect donations in exchange of token flags and car stickers throughout the country.  Concerted efforts are made on this day to raise collection from the public.  The significance of the Day is brought home to the potential donors in a variety of ways. The Flag Day message from H.E. the Governor of Andhra Pradesh was displayed through media to step up collections.  We get the major chunk of donations / contributions from Non Gazetted Officers of Andhra Pradesh and from Gazetted Officers of A.P, citizens from their salary for the month of December of the every year.

The money so collected on the occasion of Armed Forces Flag Day are is in a fund known as Special Fund for Rehabilitation & Reconstruction of Ex-servicemen. The interest so accrued from the fixed deposits is utilized for carrying out welfare activities to the Ex-servicemen, war widows, widows & dependents of Ex-servicemen of Andhra Pradesh. The corpus and utilization of interest is controlled by State Managing Committee (SMC) constituted by the Government of Andhra Pradesh which meets once in six month time to review the functioning of Special Fund. Policy directions on utilization of money are laid down by the SMC. H.E the Governor is the ex-officio the Chairman and Chief Secretary to the Government is the ex-officio Vice-Chairman. The Director Sainik Welfare, Hyderabad is ex-officio the Secretary of SMC. A number of Senior Officers of the Government and senior retired defence personnel are the members of the committee. The Secretary carries out day to day functioning of Special Fund and distributes various welfare grants to the beneficiaries

CONCESSIONS FROM SPECIAL FUND FOR REHABILITATION AND RESETTLEMENT OF EX-SERVICEMEN

1.
Monthly Grant : Deserving and needy Ex-Servicemen and Widows of Ex-Servicemen who are non-pensioners are granted monthly grant of Rs.300/- for their maintenance.

Ad-hoc Grant: Deserving and needy Ex-Servicemen and Widows of Ex-Servicemen are granted Ad-hoc grant not exceeding Rs.4000/- as one time grant, to start small self employment venture for their rehabilitation in an exceptional cases and also for medical re-imbursement.

Marriage Grant:  Rs.2,500/- marriage grant up to two daughters of Ex-Servicemen and widows of Ex-Servicemen is granted for performing the marriage. Financial grant for inter caste marriage @ Rs.3000/-and widows re-marriage @ Rs.5000/- is also given.

Funeral Expenses: on the demise of Ex-Servicemen, wife of Ex-Servicemen, minor children an amount of Rs.2,000/-, Rs.1500/- and Rs.1000/- respectively are paid towards funeral expenses.

Spot Assistance : Deserving and needy Ex-Servicemen and Widows of Ex-Servicemen who are in penury are being paid a sum of Rs.100/- to meet their to and fro charges when they visit the ZSWO to get their work done.

Educational Concessions : Up to two children of Ex-Servicemen who are prosecuting studies in Intermediate and above are eligible for sanction of educational concession @ Rs.115/- per month for Intermediate and @ Rs.150/- per month for above Intermediate courses. They are eligible to claim from one source only.

The Ex-Servicemen and their widows are eligible to claim Interest subsidy for a period of 36 months from the Special Fund if the loan is taken from any Nationalized Bank upto Rs. 50,000/- with an Interest rate above 7%.

A stipend of Rs.250/- p.m. from Special Fund is being paid to Ex-Servicemen and their Children for undergoing ITI.
9.

Maintenance grant of Rs.900/- p.m. to disabled Ex-Serviceman for undergoing training at QMTI, Pune.
