A joint entrance examination is conducted every year by the IITs for admission to IITs at Mumbai, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Roorkee and Banaras Hindu University Institute of Technology. Two seats in each of the above institute are earmarked for preferential allotment for choice of stream to children of Defence/Para Military Force Personnel killed or permanently disabled in action.
